About Columbus Edu Funding & where our data comes from

An independent guide to Ohio's school-choice money for families in Franklin, Delaware, Licking and Fairfield counties, built from federal and state records.

Ohio spends heavily on private school scholarships, but the pieces a family needs are spread across a dozen state web pages: fact sheets in one place, income charts in a spreadsheet, the list of designated buildings in another spreadsheet, and the charter status of each school in a separate directory. Columbus Edu Funding puts them side by side for Central Ohio.

A tuition counselor reviews every funding check and follows up. Some schools and organizations partner with us; those relationships are labeled where they appear and do not change what we recommend.

Where the school data comes from

The directory merges two public sources. The NCES Private School Survey (2023-24, with 2021-22 rows for schools that did not respond) supplies grades, affiliation, enrollment, teachers and association memberships. The Ohio Educational Directory System (OEDS), retrieved October 28, 2026, supplies each chartered nonpublic school's IRN, current address, phone and website. We matched the two by name and ZIP code and checked every uncertain match by hand. Schools on the state's chartered list that the federal survey missed were added from OEDS; there were 31 of them. We also flag schools that appear on DEW's 2026-27 non-chartered (NCNP) list.

In all, 160 schools are listed; 121 are chartered, 4 are on the NCNP list, and the rest, mostly preschools and child care programs, are on neither. DEW also publishes an interactive directory of registered scholarship providers; because it cannot be downloaded in bulk, our "chartered" flag marks eligibility by school type, and each school confirms its own participation.

Program amounts and dates come from DEW's 2026-2027 EdChoice and EdChoice Expansion fact sheets and award workbook, DEW's FY2027 Jon Peterson and Autism Scholarship amount sheets, the 2026-2027 EdChoice designated building list, Ohio Department of Children and Youth Procedure Letter 45, Franklin County JFS, the Ohio Attorney General's certified SGO list and the IRS. Tuition is not reported to the state; schools can add it by claiming their listing.
