Who qualifies for publicly funded child care in Franklin County?
Households with gross income below 145% of the federal poverty level, with children under 13 or under 18 with a disability. Under Ohio's October 1, 2026 standards, the 145% line for a family of four is $3,988 a month. Apply online through the state's OH|ID self-service portal, which Franklin County JFS calls the fastest route.
What is the Ohio Child Care Choice Voucher?
It is for working families who pay for child care and earn between 145% and 200% of the poverty level, too much for the main subsidy. For a family of four, 200% is $5,500 a month under the October 2026 standards. Families apply through the same OH|ID portal.
Can child care help pay for aftercare at a private school?
Only if the private school's program is a participating child care provider. EdChoice never pays for before- or after-school care, so a school's aftercare is a separate bill unless the program is enrolled in Ohio's subsidy system.
